Who’s news: Edwin Stier joins CohnReznick, Dean Wang named senior associate at Emerald Creek | HAP

Attorney Edwin H. Stier, who has conducted and supervised investigations for private and public entities throughout the country, will team up with CohnReznick LLP as a senior advisor to the Firm’s Advisory group.

Steir will act in an advisory role to CohnReznick to provide integrity monitoring services, help clients establish internal controls and compliance systems, lead crisis management and conflict resolution teams, and be instrumental in investigative and anti-corruption services.

Before entering private practice in 1982, Steir was a federal and New Jersey State Prosecutor for more than 17 years.

His public service has included serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, as Chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and as Director of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, the nation’s largest and most powerful state-level prosecutorial agency.

Since leaving public office, Steir has conducted and supervised investigations for businesses and government agencies throughout the country.

The issues covered by these investigations have ranged from potentially criminal conduct by high level management personnel to regulatory and procedural violations.

His experience includes monitoring of the clean-up activities at the World Trade Center following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.

He has also conducted several investigations into apparent deficiencies in the criminal and juvenile justice systems for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Steir is well known for being appointed trustee for Teamsters Local 560 and was successful in removing organized crime and reforming the culture of the union.

In addition, following the worst nuclear accident in U.S. history at Three Mile Island, Steir was retained by General Public Utilities (GPU), the owner of the plant, to investigate hundreds of allegations of mismanagement and safety violations in connection with the cleanup.

Steir is a graduate of Rutgers University (BA) and Rutgers University School of Law.


Emerald Creek Capital announced that Dean Wang has joined the company as senior associate.

Wang will join directors Michael Cleaver and Jeff Seidler and associate Matt Fantuzzi on the origination team. He will report directly to managing partners Mark Bahiri and Mark Penna.

Prior to joining Emerald Creek Capital, Wang was an associate with the commercial real estate lending team at Bank of China, where he underwrote in excess of $2 billion in balance sheet transactions.

He graduated from Yale University with a BA in Economics.


JLL has hired Susan Silverman as a senior vice president in its Project and Development Services group in New York.

Her responsibilities include oversight of key health care projects for JLL as well as development of new business and relationships in the healthcare sector.

Silverman has more than 30 years of experience in the health care sector and is highly skilled in the planning and design of health care-related projects.

She also has years of practical experience in the day-to-day operation of hospitals and health care facilities as a hospital administrator and nurse.

Prior to joining JLL, Silverman served as a senior associate with architectural firm NBBJ, where she oversaw short- and long-range planning for health care projects including strategic planning, operational planning, and functional and space planning.

Earlier, she worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she first served as administrative director of its Oncology Service Line and then as director of program planning for the hospital’s Office of Strategy. Before that, Silverman held a number of positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center including administrator of Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics.

In addition, Silverman worked as a nurse at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston.

She also served as an instructor at the College of Nursing at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.

Silverman earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She was certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Silverman earned her MBA at Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine.


Savills Studley has hired Nathan Brzozowski as a Managing Director of Consulting Services.

In his new role, Brzozowski will support brokers throughout the country by delivering superior financial analysis, developing strategic real estate transaction strategies and leveraging his complex skillset to the benefit of each client. Brzozowski will be based out of Savills Studley’s Hackensack, NJ office.

Previously at Cushman & Wakefield, Brzozowski served as the lead financial consultant on over 3 million square feet of capital markets, office and industrial transactions throughout the U.S., earning him an industry-wide reputation of excellence.

Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Brzozowski worked in acquisitions and asset management for private equity players Normandy Real Estate Partners.


HAP Investments LLC has announced the promotion of Moran Sellam to Vice President of Development at the company.

Sellam will focus on completing HAP’s existing portfolio working with construction, legal, and marketing departments, while also working with the finance and acquisition departments to identify new opportunities for future projects.

Sellam brings several years of experience as a lawyer to her position. She previously worked for HAP Israel, as a licensed attorney in its legal department, specializing in real estate and corporate law.

She earned her LL.B. from the College of Law and Business in Ramat Gan, Israel. She has recently taken the New York State Bar exam to expand her ability and knowledge to practice law in New York State.


Macro Consultants LLC announced that Gary Anzalone has joined the firm as Director, Client Management.

Reporting in to the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, Anzalone will strengthen and further develop Macro’s regional, national and global relationships, to help inspire significant long-term growth for the company.

Anzalone is filling a newly created position at Macro, at a time when the firm is managing over 10 million square feet of projects.

He will be charged with expanding Macro’s footprint in the Boston – New York City – Philadelphia – Washington, DC, corridor, as well as nationally and globally.

For the past 30 years, Anzalone has been Principal at Precision Signs, a full-service architectural sign company. He began his career as a construction project manager with DASNY – the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

He was most recently President of IFMA NY. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and the AIA. He earned a BS in Technology and Industrial Education from NYU.


Brookfield Property Partners L.P. announced that David Woodward has been hired to oversee Brookfield’s apartment business and strategy.

Brookfield has interests in 28,000 multifamily units including a majority interest in Fairfield Residential, a San Diego based owner, developer and property manager of apartment properties nationally.

Brookfield owns other multifamily portfolios across the United States, controls development sites in major U.S. markets including New York City, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, and has been eyeing international expansion.


Cushman & Wakefield announced the addition of senior director, Craig Ruoff, to its White Plains, N.Y. team.

Ruoff specializes in both tenant and landlord representation services in Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT, as well as on a national and international basis.

He has 25 years of professional real estate experience and is known for his ability to craft creative solutions for his clients.

Ruoff has represented a wide range of corporate clients, including American Booksellers Association; Artco Steel; World Travel Partners BTI; and Zarin & Steinmetz.

Prior to joining C&W, Ruoff was an associate broker at Rakow Commercial Realty Group. He joined Rakow after 13 years as an associate broker at the Wagner Group and, prior to that, one year as a salesperson for William Pitt Commercial Real Estate in Stamford, CT.

Ruoff received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
